unity of students...

As a student studying in Indonesia, all Malaysian students are united and managed under an association named PKPMI (Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar-Pelajar Malaysia di Indonesia). This association can be said to be the one major association connecting all Malaysian students studying in all provinces in Indonesia, though we have other association such as Kelab UMNO and other religious clubs that unite the students.

Frankly, I have no comment towards the purposes of having other clubs within the existence of the main association PKPMI. Events are organized by both clubs, especially PKPMI and UMNO, thus doubling the jobs and with repeating of certain activities as well. Why don’t we have both associations work hand in hand to organize these activities? Why not we unite the students more through both associations, rather than creating more separation among students? To make the situation even worse, in certain activities, it tend to look like a racial celebration where most of those who attend are the students of the same race or faith. At this extreme point, there’s definitely no space for unity to exist.

Problems lie in certain aspects that are sensitive and are forbidden to be opened up for talk. No matter what the underlying problems are, the unity of students will not be achieved if lack of respect, tolerance and collaboration from all students from both association and lack of support from parties that provides backup, equal and positive encouragement.
